California Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Espionage by VOA News A court in California has sentenced a chemical engineer to 15 years in prison and fined him $28.3 million for stealing trade secrets from U.S. industrial chemical maker DuPont to help a state-owned Chinese company. At Thursday's sentencing, U.S. district judge Jeffrey White said Walter Liew, a naturalized citizen, had "turned against his adopted country for greed." Liew was convicted earlier this year of receiving $28 million from companies controlled by the Chinese government in exchange for Dupont's pigment technology, used for whitening a long list of everyday items. The judge also fined Liew's engineering company about $19 million. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/california-man-sentenced-15-years-esp ionage/1955291.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/california-man-sentenced-15-years-espionage/1955291.html
