Morsi to Stand Trial in Jailbreak Case by VOA News Ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi is set to go on trial Tuesday in the latest criminal case against him and members of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood. In the new trial, Morsi and 130 others are facing charges of breaking out of prison in 2011. A separate case, for allegedly inciting violence against anti-government protesters in 2012, is due to resume Saturday after being postponed twice since it opened in November. Morsi is also facing a third trial, in which he will face charges of insulting the judiciary, while a fourth case features charges of espionage in collaboration with the Palestinian Hamas movement. Egypt's military removed Morsi from office in July, and authorities have spent months cracking down on the Brotherhood, including arresting many of its leaders and declaring it a terrorist group. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/morsi-to-stand-trial-in-jailbreak-cas e/1839031.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/morsi-to-stand-trial-in-jailbreak-case/1839031.html
