US, Israel Discuss Peace Talk Efforts on WEF Sidelines U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum to discuss the ongoing peace negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians. A senior U.S. State Department official said Friday`s 90-minute meeting in Davos, Switzerland, focused on "a framework for negotiations that would address all of the core issues." Kerry has made several trips to Israel and the Palestinian territories to convince leaders on both sides to agree to a scaled-back framework deal. The agreement, he says, would be a "significant breakthrough." Kerry will deliver a speech on the Middle East later Friday. Israelis and Palestinians have accused each other of sabotaging peace efforts. Israel says the Palestinians should recognize Israel as a Jewish state and stop welcoming as heroes the released prisoners who were convicted of killing Israelis. Palestinians continue to complain about the building of Israeli settlements, as well as proposals for security arrangements in the Jordan Valley where the West Bank borders Jordan. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/us-israel-discuss-peace-talk-efforts- on-wef-sidelines/1836941.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/us-israel-discuss-peace-talk-efforts-on-wef-sidelines/1836941.html
