Explosives Prevent Musharraf's Court Appearance by VOA News Former Pakistani leader Pervez Musharraf has once again missed a day in court because of threats to his security. Police said Wednesday they defused an improvised bomb near the road Musharraf would have taken to court. His legal team said the bomb was the reason he did not appear in court Wednesday. Musharraf is being tried over his imposition of emergency rule in 2007, a year before he resigned from office. Explosives were also found along the route from Musharraf's home on December 24, when he was first scheduled to appear in court. Musharraf faces several other criminal cases dating to his 1999-2008 rule, including one related to the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007. He had been granted bail in all cases against him since his return to Pakistan earlier this year. Musharraf will be the first military ruler tried for treason in the country, which has experienced three military coups in its 66-year history. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/explosives-prevent-musharrafs-court-a ppearance/1821226.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/explosives-prevent-musharrafs-court-appearance/1821226.html
