            Egypt Sentences 26 to Death for Alleged Suez Terror Plot

   An Egyptian court has sentenced 26 people to death for allegedly
   plotting to attack ships passing through the Suez Canal.
   The court issued the sentence Wednesday after trying the defendants in
   absentia.
   Prosecutors said the suspects formed a terrorist group to carry out the
   attacks.
   The canal in northeastern Egypt connects the Mediterranean Sea to the
   Red Sea.
