Hollande, Merkel Speak Out Against Ukraine Violence France and Germany are taking a united stance against the latest deadly violence in Ukraine. During a joint news conference Wednesday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Paris, French President Francois Hollande called for "quick and targeted sanctions against those responsible for oppression" in Ukraine. He called the violence "unspeakable" and unacceptable." Ms. Merkel said European Union foreign ministers will discuss what sanctions could be implemented against Kyiv during a meeting Thursday in Brussels. She sympathized with the victims in Ukraine, saying the European Union cannot just accept the violence that is being "dished out." Meanwhile in Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned the deadly Ukraine protests as a "coup attempt." He denied claims President Vladimir Putin was giving advice to Ukraine`s president on how to handle the crisis and reiterated that Moscow would not interfere with the Ukraine`s internal affairs. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/hollande-merkel-speak-out-against-ukr aine-violence/1854614.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/hollande-merkel-speak-out-against-ukraine-violence/1854614.html
