Former US Congressman Pleads Not Guilty in Zimbabwe Porn Case A former U.S. congressman arrested in Zimbabwe this week has pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing pornography. Mel Reynolds entered his plea in a Harare courtroom Wednesday. He is due to appear again Thursday to enter a plea on a separate charge that he broke Zimbabwe's immigration laws. Zimbabwe's state-run Herald newspaper reported Wednesday that Reynolds had made dozens of pornographic videos with women at two Harare hotels. It reported he had also overstayed his visa and run up hotel bills of more than $24,000. Reynolds was once considered a rising star in the U.S. Democratic Party. He resigned his seat in the House of Representatives in 1995 after being convicted of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography. While in jail in the United States, he was also convicted of bank and campaign fraud. His sentence was commuted by President Bill Clinton in 2001. Reynolds made attempts to win back his Chicago-area congressional seat in 2004 and 2013 but lost primary elections both times. In Zimbabwe, he reportedly tried to attract investors for a hotel project. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/former-us-congressman-pleads-not-guil ty-in-zimbabwe/1854699.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/former-us-congressman-pleads-not-guilty-in-zimbabwe/1854699.html
