France's Vaultier Wins Snowboard Cross Olympic Gold by VOA News France's Pierre Vaultier has won gold in the men's snowboardcross at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Russia's Nikolay Olyunin won silver and American Alex Deibold won bronze in Tuesday's event, which was postponed from Monday because of heavy fog. Slovenia's Tina Maze led the women's giant slalom after the first of two runs Tuesday, as she tries to win her second gold medal at this year's games. Austria's Anna Fenninger, already a gold medal-winner in the super G, was in fourth, with the 2010 gold medalist from Germany, Viktoria Rebensburg, in sixth place. American Julia Mancuso failed to finish her first run, but 18-year-old fellow U.S. skier Mikaela Shiffrin was fifth after her Olympic debut.
