Obama Hosts France's Hollande for State Visit U.S. President Barack Obama hosts French President Francois Hollande in Washington Tuesday for the second day of a state visit. Mr. Hollande will receive a traditional ceremonial welcome on the White House South Lawn, before going into talks with Mr. Obama. Discussions are set to cover Iran nuclear negotiations, Syria, counter-terrorism efforts in Africa, trade, economic issues and climate change. It is the first state visit by a French president since 1996. On Monday, Mr. Obama and Mr. Hollande traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia and Monticello, the 18th century mansion that was home to Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson, the third U.S. president, was the principal drafter of the Declaration of Independence, and the second U.S. envoy to France from 1785 to 1789. France supported the original 13 American colonies in their independence war with Britain. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-hosts-frances-hollande-for-stat e-visit/1848773.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-hosts-frances-hollande-for-state-visit/1848773.html
