Iran Resumes Talks With IAEA Iran has resumed talks about its nuclear program with the International Atomic Energy Agency. The U.N. atomic agency wants Iran to address suspicions that it has been researching how to build a nuclear bomb, something Iran has long denied. The talks Saturday in Tehran come after the implementation in January of a modest easing of sanctions against Iran. In return, Iran agreed to a freeze on some of its nuclear program. The nuclear deal, agreed upon in November, called for Iran to limit its uranium enrichment, which the West says was aimed at building nuclear weapons. In exchange, the United States and European Union agreed to ease economic sanctions on Tehran. The IAEA wants Iran to provide guarantees of transparency about its nuclear program, and information about alleged past attempts to develop atomic weapons. Six world powers -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States -- negotiated the interim pact. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/iran-resumes-talks-with-iaea/1847193. html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/iran-resumes-talks-with-iaea/1847193.html
