Syrian Extradited to US on Terrorism Charges by VOA News A Syrian man accused in a plot to attack U.S. troops in Iraq has been extradited to the United States. Authorities say Ahmad Ibrahim al-Ahmad made his first courtroom appearance on Thursday in Arizona, where he faces multiple federal charges, including the provision of material support to terrorists. Al-Ahmad is accused of supplying bomb components from 2005 to 2010 to an Iraqi insurgent group, the 1920 Revolution Brigades. Officials say that group subsequently used improvised explosive devices against U.S. forces. Al-Ahmad was arrested in Turkey in 2011. He was held there until his extradition to the U.S. on Wednesday. His trial is expected to begin in October. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/syrian-extradited-to-us-on-terrorism- charges/2431772.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/syrian-extradited-to-us-on-terrorism-charges/2431772.html
