                   Indian PM Delivers Independence Day Speech

   India's new prime minister said a wave of rape cases has shamed the
   country.

   Narendra Modi, in a speech during the annual Independence Day
   celebration, urged parents to take responsibility for the actions of
   their sons, teaching them "the difference between right and wrong."

   Modi spoke to the nation from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort in
   New Delhi on the anniversary of India's independence from Britain.

   The prime minister also announced an initiative to improve access to
   financial services for Indians who lack a bank account and are often at
   the mercy of moneylenders, who charge exorbitant rates of interest.

   In the speech celebrating 67 years of independence, Prime Minister Modi
   said he wants India to become a nation known for manufacturing and
   exporting goods, rather than importing goods.
