Earthquake Rattles Ecuador's Capital City by VOA News A magnitude 5.1 earthquake has shaken Ecuador's capital, Quito, and surrounding areas, leaving two people dead and eight others injured. The country's National Risk Control Agency said Tuesday on Twitter that firefighters were working to free three others who became trapped in landslides at quarries. Landslides also made some roads impassable and a thick layer of dusk around Quito forced the closure of the airport in the capital. The earthquake sent people running into the streets as high rise buildings swayed. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered 23 kilometers northeast of Quito. Some information for this report comes from AP, AFP and Reuters. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/earthquake-ecuador-quito/2411536.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/earthquake-ecuador-quito/2411536.html
