Gaza Truce Talks in Doubt by VOA News The Gaza truce talks in Cairo appear to be on the verge of collapse Sunday with Palestinians negotiators threatening to walk away unless Israeli negotiators return to the table. Israeli officials have said their negotiators, who left Egypt Friday, would only return if the rocket fire from Gaza stops. Gaza militant groups have continued to fire rockets into Israeli. Israel has continued its airstrikes on Gaza. Gaza officials say Sunday's air strikes have killed at least one person. A 72-hour-long cease-fire expired Friday after no progress was made in Cairo toward a longer term truce. The Israeli army says Hamas fired 100 rockets at Israel since the truce ended, and that Israel targeted what it calls "120 terror sites and nine operatives." Hamas demands that Israel lift its longstanding blockade of Gaza while Israel insists Gaza be demilitarized first. A month of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza has killed more than 1,900 Palestinians, mostly civilians and turned entire neighborhoods into piles of rock and dust. Sixty-four Israeli soldiers and three civilians have died. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/gaza-truce-talks-in-doubt/2408643.htm l References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/gaza-truce-talks-in-doubt/2408643.html
