Israelis, Palestinians to Meet in Attempt to Salvage Talks by VOA News Israeli and Palestinian negotiators are meeting again Monday as they try to salvage their faltering peace talks. The United States, trying to mediate a peace accord in the decades-long Mideast dispute, said the two sides held "serious and constructive" talks Sunday and both sides asked American officials to convene another meeting. The United States said the two sides were looking for ways to overcome what it described as "the crisis in the talks." The American efforts to extend the peace talks past a late April deadline stalled last week after Israel balked at carrying out a planned prisoner release and the Palestinians revived a controversial bid for U.N. recognition as the "state of Palestine." With the talks deadlocked, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry voiced his impatience at both sides, saying the United States would re-evaluate its mediator role. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/israeli-palestinian-negotiators-hold- constructive-talks/1887840.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/israeli-palestinian-negotiators-hold-constructive-talks/1887840.html
