US Defense Chief in South Korea U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel visited the Demilitarized Zone separating North and South Korea Monday, telling reporters "there is no margin for error" at the heavily armed border. Hagel toured the facilities at the Panmunjom border village under the watchful eye of North Korean border guards stationed on their side of the border, accompanied by his South Korea counterpart Kim Kwan-jin. After touring the DMZ, Hagel traveled to Seoul for talks with South Korean President Park Geun-hye at her official residence. The U.S. defense chief is in South Korea to discuss extending America`s wartime control and command of South Korea forces, as well as the 28,000 U.S troops deployed to the country. South Korea is scheduled to take over full command in 2015. Hagel will also attend a ceremony later Monday marking the 60th anniversary of the military alliance between the U.S. and South Korea. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/us-defense-chief-in-south-korea/17596 52.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/us-defense-chief-in-south-korea/1759652.html
