Americans Evenly Divided on Syrian Diplomacy An opinion poll in the United States about the whether diplomatic efforts to dismantle Syria`s chemical-weapons arsenal will succeed shows Americans evenly divided. A Gallup poll released Friday indicates that 45% of Americans are at least somewhat optimistic about the plan; 44% say they doubt it will succeed. The survey asked for respondents` views about "Russia`s Syrian chemical-weapons plan." It was conducted during the two days following President Barack Obama`s speech to the nation this week, in which he said U.S. military action against Syria is still possible, but also noted efforts to reach a diplomatic solution. The survey showed a widening majority of Americans oppose any U.S. military action against Syria - 62% this week, compared to 53% eight days earlier. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/americans-evenly-divided-on-syrian-di plomacy/1749582.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/americans-evenly-divided-on-syrian-diplomacy/1749582.html
