Date for Syrian Peace Talks Set - Maybe The chief of the Arab League says a peace conference for Syria will convene in Geneva on November 23, but an international peace envoy said an exact date has yet to be set. Arab League chief Nabil el-Araby announced the date at a news conference in Cairo Sunday after meeting with Arab League-U.N. envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi. However, at the same news conference, Brahimi told reporters that there would be no talks without credible opposition representation. He refused to publicly set a date for the conference until he completes a regional tour of Qatar, Turkey, Iran and Syria. Meanwhile, a suicide bomber driving a truck loaded with explosives killed at least 30 people people and wounded dozens of others in Syria's central city of Hama on Sunday. The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attack targeted an army checkpoint. The Britain-based watchdog said the death toll is likely to rise, as some of the wounded are in critical condition. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/date-for-syrian-peace-talks-set--mayb e/1773204.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/date-for-syrian-peace-talks-set--maybe/1773204.html
