Explosion Kills 21 in Southern Syria by VOA News Syrian activists have announced an explosion has hit a vehicle in southern Syria, killing at least 21 people, including six women and four children. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the blast happened early Wednesday as the vehicle was traveling near Tel al-Juma, in Daraa province. Activists blamed forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad for planting explosives in the road. The Observatory said there is an army outpost nearby that is besieged by rebel fighters. There was no immediate comment by the government. Daraa is the cradle of the Syrian crisis, which began in March 2011 as peaceful protests and has evolved into a civil war that has left more than 100,000 people dead. The United Nations says the fighting has forced more than 2 million people to flee Syria and another 4.25 million to leave their homes inside the country. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/explosion-kills-21-in-southern-syria/ 1770568.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/explosion-kills-21-in-southern-syria/1770568.html
