Police warned Sunday that the death toll could rise as medics struggled to reach victims in the crush, which was triggered by rumors the bridge was about to collapse. Authorities say the stampede happened at a bridge crossing the Sindh River. People were crossing the bridge to attend a religious festival. India has a long history of deadly stampedes at religious festivals. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/64-die-in-stampede-in-india/1768745.h tml References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/64-die-in-stampede-in-india/1768745.html
