Observers Cite 'Irregularities' in Guinea Vote by VOA News International observers are raising concerns about last month's legislative elections in Guinea, saying they found "irregularities" in the vote. Representatives from the United Nations, United States, France and the West African bloc ECOWAS said in a joint statement late Tuesday the issues kept a "significant number" of votes from being considered, bringing the results into question. Partial results released last week showed President Alpha Conde's party leading in several districts. The opposition rejected the results, saying the election was marred by "massive fraud" that included ballot stuffing. Conde dismissed the accusations on Tuesday, calling them "political rhetoric." He said he will not allow any group to destabilize the country. The September 28 election was intended to complete a political transition that began with Conde's 2010 election. The vote had been postponed repeatedly during the past two years, partly due to violent clashes and the threat of more trouble if the election went ahead. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/observers-cite-irregularities-in-guin ea-vote/1765933.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/observers-cite-irregularities-in-guinea-vote/1765933.html
