Obama: Iran More Than a Year From a Nuclear Weapon by VOA News U.S. President Barack Obama says it will take Iran more than a year or so to build a nuclear bomb, but says he does not want to wait too close to that deadline. Obama told Israeli television Thursday that all options are on the table and that the United States has significant capabilities if diplomacy fails. U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes said Thursday the Iranians should know Obama is serious about stopping them from getting a nuclear weapon. Rhodes says the president does not make such public assurances without a commitment to follow through. Obama makes his first trip to Israel as president Wednesday, which also includes stops in the West Bank at Ramallah and Jordan. Rhodes says there is no substitute for being able to speak directly to the Israeli people on such issues as Iran, Syria, and peace with the Palestinians. Obama will also reinforce U.S. support for the Palestinian Authority, which Rhodes calls the legitimate leadership of the Palestinian people. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/iran-nuclear-weapon/1621872.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/iran-nuclear-weapon/1621872.html
