Fighting Reported in Multiple Syrian Provinces by VOA News Opposition groups are reporting fresh violence across Syria Friday, as Washington's top diplomat heads to Turkey for talks aimed at ending the nearly two-year-long crisis. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights tells VOA the bodies of 10 men were found dumped near a farm outside the the capital, Damascus. It says one man was decapitated and others were shot in the head. Their identities are not known. The group also says fights broke out Friday in several contested areas of Aleppo, Reef Dimashq and Hama provinces. On Thursday, the opposition accused President Bashar al-Assad's forces of executing 72 people near Aleppo. The Syrian National Coalition said the burned bodies were discovered following a government raid three days earlier on Malkiyeh village, south of Aleppo. None of the reports could be confirmed. Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is headed to Turkey for talks on how to best support rebel efforts in Syria. On Thursday, the U.S. announced $60 million in immediate aid to the Syrian opposition, including food, medical supplies and direct non-lethal aid to some of its military forces. Kerry, who made the announcement in Rome, said the $60 million will enable the opposition to provide services in areas it controls and help build its local support. Militant groups have filled that role in some areas, raising concerns in the West. The military aid - combat rations and medical supplies - will be the first provided by the United States directly to the opposition military council. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/fighting-reported-in-multiple-syrian- provinces/1613170.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/fighting-reported-in-multiple-syrian-provinces/1613170.html
