           Palestinian President Accepts Prime Minister's Resignation

   Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has accepted the resignation of his
   newly appointed prime minister.
   Mr. Abbas` spokesman said Sunday the president has asked Rami
   Hamdallah`s to stay on in a caretaker role until a replacement prime
   minister can be found. Hamdallah abruptly resigned last week over a
   conflict with his deputies.
   The prime minister served just two weeks on the job, disheveling the
   Palestinian Authority at a time when Mr. Abbas is focusing on a U.S.
   push to restart peace talks with Israel.
