Typhoon Soulik Downgraded Chinese forecasters have downgraded a powerful typhoon to a tropical depression after it made landfall in the heavily populated Chinese coastal province of Fujian Saturday Typhoon Soulik forced the evacuation of 300,000 people when it hit southeast China, with winds of nearly 120 kilometers per hour. The National Meteorological Center downgraded the storm to a tropical depression Sunday as it weakened overland, but warned that it would still dump heavy amounts of rain on the eastern parts of China. The typhoon had slowed since it made landfall on Taiwan`s northeastern coast early Saturday, killing two people and injuring more than 100 others. Recent torrential rains across large parts of China have left 200 people dead or missing. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/typhoon-soulik-downgraded/1701359.htm l References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/typhoon-soulik-downgraded/1701359.html
