Typhoon Kills 1, Injures Several in Taiwan Typhoon Soulik made landfall on Taiwan`s northeastern coast early Saturday, killing one person and injuring at least 21 others. Taiwan`s Central Emergency Operation Center said a 50-year-old police officer was killed when he was hit by flying bricks while on his way home overnight. Most of the injured were hit by trees or flying debris, driven by strong winds. Businesses and schools were closed and residents were advised to stay indoors. Strong winds and heavy rain disrupted rail, road and air traffic across the island. Forecasters predicted the storm would continue to affect Taiwan throughout Saturday, even though the eye has passed over the island. Soulik is headed for the provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang in China. Recent torrential rains across large parts of China have already left 200 people dead or missing. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/typhoon-kills-1-injures-several-in-ta iwan/1701039.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/typhoon-kills-1-injures-several-in-taiwan/1701039.html
