                       Suicide Bombers Hit Afghan Cities

   Afghan officials say militants have hit Afghanistan with a string of
   attacks Sunday.
   Authorities say Afghan security forces shot dead a would-be suicide
   bomber in a Kabul neighborhood that is home to government department
   and diplomatic missions. Police say the attacker`s car was packed with
   explosives.
   Authorities say another explosives-laden car struck an intelligence
   agency office in the the eastern city of Jalalabad, killing two people
   and wounding three others. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for
   the attack in Jalalabad.
   Officials say an assailant detonated a van packed with explosives at a
   police checkpoint in Logar province, also in the east, wounding two
   police officers.
