Syrian Opposition Pulls Out of International Talks Syria`s main opposition group, the Syrian National Coalition, is pulling out of international meetings to protest what it calls "shameful" world inaction on crimes committed against the Syrian people. The SNC says it has decided not to attend the Friends of Syria meeting in Rome next week and will also be declining invitations to talks in Moscow and Washington. In a statement, the coalition criticized what it called "international silence" on daily crimes in Syria, saying the silence "amounts to participating in two years of killings." The statement slammed Russia specifically for supplying weapons to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad`s government. The Syrian opposition group is particularly upset by the use of Russian-provided Scud missiles in rebel-held areas of Syria`s largest city, Aleppo. The United Nations says at least 70,000 people have been killed in the nearly two-year conflict between Syrian rebels and the government. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/syrian-opposition-pulls-out-of-intern ational-talks/1609477.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/syrian-opposition-pulls-out-of-international-talks/1609477.html
