UN: Iran Installing Advanced Enrichment Centrifuges The United Nations nuclear watchdog says Iran has begun installing advanced centrifuges at its main uranium enrichment site. The report by the International Atomic Energy Agency said Iran has started installing IR-2m centrifuges at its Natanz plant south of Tehran. The IAEA believes at least 100 of these centrifuges have been mounted inside the plant. If operated successfully, the advanced centrifuges could speed up the enrichment of uranium to a level the West fears can be used to produce an atomic weapon. Iran says its nuclear program has peaceful aims. The report comes ahead of a meeting between Iran and six world powers -- the U.S., Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany -- next Tuesday in Kazakhstan . Previous international efforts to address concerns about Iran`s nuclear program have made little progress. The West suspects Iran is developing a nuclear weapons capability under the guise of a civilian atomic energy program, a charge Iran rejects. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/un-iran-installing-advanced-enrichmen t-centrifuges/1608166.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/un-iran-installing-advanced-enrichment-centrifuges/1608166.html
