                        Foreigners Kidnapped in Nigeria

   Nigerian police say gunmen have kidnapped at least six people,
   including at some foreigners from a construction site in the country`s
   north after a failed attack on a prison.
   Police say the gunmen shot and killed a security guard at the
   Lebanese-owned company`s site at the town of Jama`are in Nigeria`s
   Bauchi State before fleeing with the workers.
   There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the
   kidnappings.
   Authorities say the suspects initially tried to overtake a prison in
   the area, but were turned back.
   The Associated Press reports that a local official says foreigners from
   Britain, Italy, Greece and Lebanon are among those kidnapped overnight.
   The report has not been confirmed.
