Disabled Cruise Ship Docks After Days at Sea A disabled Carnival cruise ship carrying thousands of passengers has finally docked in Mobile, Alabama, after days at sea with no power or sanitation. The ship was towed in by a flotilla of tug boats, arriving late Thursday at the port on the Gulf Coast. Reports say passengers, who have been complaining for days of foul conditions and long lines for food aboard the ship, will still likely wait hours for their turn to debark. More than 4,000 people were aboard the Carnival Cruise Lines` Carnival Triumph ship when it left Galveston, Texas Thursday for a four-day cruise. On Sunday, an engine room fire knocked out its primary power source, crippling its water and plumbing systems and leaving it adrift 240 kilometers off Mexico`s Yucatan Peninsula. Some passengers reported flooded rooms and sewage in hallways, and sleeping on the ships` decks to avoid hot and smelly cabins. The U.S. Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire in the engine room. The NTSB says in statement that because the vessel is Bahamian-flagged, the Bahamas Maritime Authority is the primary investigating agency. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/disabled-cruise-ship-docks-after-days -at-sea/1604156.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/disabled-cruise-ship-docks-after-days-at-sea/1604156.html
