                       Blast Kills Afghan Family of Five

   Officials in southern Afghanistan say a roadside bomb blast has killed
   a family of five.
   Authorities say the family hit the bomb while driving in Helmand
   province Saturday night.
   Officials say two of the dead were young children.
   Roadside bombs are favorite weapons of Taliban Islamists fighting to
   oust the Western-backed government, but are often placed along popular
   roads and regularly kill civilians.
