Netanyahu Asked to Form New Israeli Government Israel`s president has asked Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu to form a new government, after consulting with all 12 parties that won seats in last week`s elections. Mr. Netanyahu now has six weeks to form a coalition government, with a possible extension of two weeks. If he succeeds, he will begin his third term as prime minister. Speaking Saturday, Mr. Netanyahu repeated his assertion that the new government`s number one priority should be to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. He also repeated that he would seek to form the broadest coalition possible, and called on opposition parties to join it. Formal coalition talks are set to begin Sunday. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/netanyahu-asked-to-form-new-israeli-g overnment/1596064.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/netanyahu-asked-to-form-new-israeli-government/1596064.html
