Obama to Hold Year-End Press Conference U.S. President Barack Obama will close out his political year with a press conference at the White House. The president will speak to reporters Friday afternoon before heading to Hawaii to celebrate the Christmas holiday with family. The White House has not announced a return date, but the first family is expected to stay in Hawaii until after New Year`s Day. The president has faced harsh criticism this year after The Washington Post and Britain`s Guardian newspaper published numerous details about National Security Council surveillance revealed through leaks from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. One NSA official assessing the damage of the Snowden leaks, Rick Ledgett, told the 60 Minutes news program that Snowden made off with "the keys to the kingdom." The president has also faced heat over the health care overhaul known as "Obamacare." President Obama admitted in November that he and his team had "fumbled" the startup of his signature policy plan. Technical problems plagued the U.S. government`s troubled health care website. Mr. Obama also repeatedly assured the public that insured Americans who liked their plans would be able to keep them. This proved untrue for some, causing the president to allow the extension of private insurance plans for an additional year. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-to-hold-yearend-press-conferenc e/1814501.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-to-hold-yearend-press-conference/1814501.html
