Hezbollah Accuses Israel of Killing Commander in Beirut by VOA News Lebanese militant group Hezbollah announced that one of its commanders has been killed and is blaming neighboring Israel for his death. The group said in a statement Wednesday that Hussein al-Laqis was killed as he returned to his home in southern Beirut around midnight. It said Israel had tried to kill him several times in the past and must bear "full responsibility" for his death. There was no immediate response from Israeli officials. Hezbollah and Israel fought a 34-day war in 2006 that killed more than 1,300 people, most of them Lebanese. The militant group has also been fighting in Syria, where it is helping President Bashar al-Assad's forces battle rebels trying to oust him from power. Armed clashes and bombings have spread into Lebanon itself, including deadly attacks in Beirut. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/hezbollah-accuses-israel-of-killing-c ommander-in-beirut/1803149.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/hezbollah-accuses-israel-of-killing-commander-in-beirut/1803149.html
