                 Nasdaq Halts Trading Due to Technical Problem

   Nasdaq has halted trading of all stocks and options due to technical
   problems.
   The exchange sent an alert out to traders shortly after noon local time
   Thursday saying trading was suspended until further notice, due to
   problems with its system that distributes of stock price quotes.
   Nasdaq sent out an update about an hour later saying that trading would
   reopen "at a time to be determined." It said customers wishing to
   cancel orders could do so.
   The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says it is monitoring the
   situation and is in close contact with the exchanges.
