Storm Leaves 1 Dead, 5 Missing in Southern China Chinese officials say Typhoon Utor killed at least one person and left five others missing in southern Guangdong Province before weakening to a tropical storm on Thursday. The storm made landfall Wednesday, bringing winds over 150 kilometers per hour and heavy rains that state media say caused torrential flooding and mountain torrents. Tens of thousands were evacuated ahead of the storm, which also forced the closure of some schools, offices and public transportation. Only minor damage was reported. Earlier Wednesday, authorities in Hong Kong canceled flights and closed the city`s main stock exchange because of the storm. The typhoon passed over the Philippines earlier this week, causing landslides and flooding that killed at least six people and left 30,000 displaced. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/storm-leaves-1-dead-5-missing-in-sout hern-china/1730128.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/storm-leaves-1-dead-5-missing-in-southern-china/1730128.html
