                       US Orders Diplomats Out of Lahore

   The U.S. State Department has ordered the departure of all its
   non-emergency government personnel from the U.S. Consulate in Lahore,
   Pakistan, due to "specific threats."
   The State Department has also issued a travel warning, urging  U.S.
   citizens to defer all non-essential travel to Pakistan.
   A statement issued late Thursday said that the presence of several
   foreign and indigenous terrorist groups poses a "potential danger" to
   U.S. citizens throughout Pakistan.
   The State Department "strongly advised" U.S. citizens in Pakistan to
   avoid protests against the U.S. which it says are "not uncommon and
   have the potential to turn violent."
