Pakistan Bomb Attacks Kill 8 Two bomb attacks in northwest Pakistan have killed at least eight people at political campaign offices ahead of May 11 elections. Police say the campaign office of Syed Noor Akbar, who is running as an independent candidate for a national assembly seat, was attacked Sunday on the outskirts of Kohat city, leaving at least five people dead. A second attack was aimed at the offices of another independent candidate, Nasir Khan Afridi, in Peshawar, where at least three people died. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The Pakistani Taliban has targeted several political parties in the run-up to the election. Those parties are perceived as secular and have backed military operations against Islamic militants. The May 11 elections will be the first time a Pakistani civilian government has served a full term and passed government leadership on to a new civilian administration. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/pakistan-bomb-attacks-kill-8/1650292. html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/pakistan-bomb-attacks-kill-8/1650292.html
