                   Spain's Unemployment Jumps to 27.2 Percent

   Spain`s unemployment rate has climbed to a record 27.2 percent in the
   first quarter of the year.
   The National Statistics Institute said the number of unemployed rose by
   237,400 people, taking the total number of unemployed in Spain to 6.2
   million in the first three months of the year.
   Spain is struggling to recover from the collapse of a once-booming
   real-estate sector in 2008.
   The Spanish government has initiated spending cuts and tax hikes to
   reduce one of the euro zone`s highest deficits.
   Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said he will unveil a new package of
   reforms Friday aimed at reviving Spanish economic activity.
