Tributes to Boston at London Marathon A defiant, festive mood prevailed Sunday at the London Marathon, despite concerns raised by last week`s bombings at the Boston Marathon. Six days after bombs exploded near the finish line in Boston, runners in London sent out a powerful message of solidarity with the northeastern U.S. city and its victims. Ethiopian Tsegaye Kebede won the men`s race in two hours, six minutes, four seconds. Kenyan Priscah Jeptoo became the women`s champion by finishing the 45-kilometer race in 2:20:15. About 34,000 runners competed in London. Organizers have pledged to donate $3 for every finisher to "The One Fund Boston,`` set up to raise money for the bombing victims. Thousands of New Yorkers wearing "I Run for Boston`` signs completed in a 6.4-kilometer run Sunday in Central Park, one of a number of races held around the country in support of the victims of the marathon bombings. Races also were held in St. Louis, San Francisco, Lansing, Michigan and Burlington, Vermont. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/tributes-to-boston-at-london-marathon /1646062.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/tributes-to-boston-at-london-marathon/1646062.html
