                Child Rape Survivor Improves, Protests Continue

   Doctors say the 5-year-old girl who was raped in kidnapped, raped and
   tortured in India`s capital New Delhi is slowly improving.
   The child was in critical condition when she was transferred to the
   country`s largest hospital Thursday. Doctors Sunday said she was
   responding well to treatment and that her condition had stabilized.
   Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters took to the streets across India for
   a third day Sunday. The demonstrators are demanding the resignation of
   New Delhi`s police commissioner after reports emerged that police
   ignored the girl`s disappearance and reportedly offered money to her
   parents in order to keep the matter quiet.
   Indian police have arrested the child`s 22-year-old neighbor. The girl
   was reported missing from her New Delhi home on April 15 and found
   three days later in a locked room. Police say the suspect left her for
   dead after the brutal attack.
