Mubarak Judge Recuses Himself ((new lede, graf 2 edit The judge in the retrial of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has referred the case to another court. The ruling came not long after the 84-year-old Mr. Mubarak arrived at the Cairo courtroom Saturday and was wheeled in on a hospital stretcher. Mr. Mubarak faces retrial following the appeal of his life sentence for complicity in the deaths of hundreds of protesters during the Arab Spring movement. Mr. Mubarak was granted an appeal in January after a judge ruled last year that he and his former interior minister failed to stop the killing of nearly 1,000 protesters in 2011 in the movement that led up to his ouster. Mr. Mubarak and five others, including aides, were charged in the case. Egypt`s highest appeals court granted Mr. Mubarak a retrial on the requests of the prosecution and defense after complaints that the prosecution`s evidence was weak. Separately, Mr. Mubarak`s two sons are also facing legal challenges.
