US Postal Service to Continue Saturday Mail Delivery The financially-strapped U.S. Postal Service says it will continue delivering mail on Saturday because Congress has given it no other choice. Postal Service officials say Congress had used "restrictive language" in recent spending legislation that prohibits the implementation of its new delivery schedule. That schedule would have delivered packages, but eliminated Saturday delivery of first-class mail starting in August. The Postal Service lost $16 billion last year. In February, it asked Congress to write the spending law so the service could switch to five-day mail delivery and save $2 billion annually. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/us-postal-service-to-continue-saturda y-mail-delivery/1638688.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/us-postal-service-to-continue-saturday-mail-delivery/1638688.html
