Obama Urges Congress to Act on Economy by VOA News U.S. President Barack Obama says the Congress is standing in the way of proposals to create jobs, boost the economy and strengthen the middle class. During his weekly address Saturday, Obama said Republicans in Congress have voted down a bill to help military veterans find work. He also said they "dragged their feet" on other bills to assist farmers and responsible homeowners before leaving Washington on a break. The president says the bills have bipartisan support and he urged citizens to tell their congressional representatives to take action on the bills when they return to work after the November presidential election.
