                   Greeks to Hold General Strike September 26

   Greece's two main labor unions have announced a general strike on
   September 26 against planned austerity measures.
   A spokeswoman for the General Confederation of Greek Labor said the
   action would involve members of the country's largest private sector
   union and its largest public sector union.
   The 24-hour strike is meant to speak out against roughly $14.8 billion
   in budget cuts demanded by Greece's creditors: the European Union,
   International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank.
   Greek doctors, teachers, and municipal staff held strikes this week to
   protest the new measures, which include cuts to pensions, salaries, and
   health care.
