Olympic Security Firm Apologizes for not Fulfilling Contract by VOA News A private firm contracted to provide security at the 2012 London Games has apologized to Olympic officials for failing to provide all the personnel it had promised. G4S issued a statement Saturday saying that the company is having difficulty processing applicants for the security jobs. British officials say they will deploy an additional 13,500 military personnel to cover the shortfall. G4S says it stands to lose up $54 million to $77 million dollars as it pays for the extra military personnel. G4S Chief Executive Officer Nick Buckles expressed his disappointment over the situation, saying the company hopes to deliver successful and secure Games working in partnership with the military. Part of the military presence includes the assault ship HMS Ocean, which has sailed up the River Thames to guard London for the Olympic Games, which run from Friday, July 27, to Sunday, August 12. __________________________________________________________________ [1]http://www.voanews.com/content/olympic-security-firm-g4s-apologizes- for-not-fulfilling-contract/1404709.html References 1. http://www.voanews.com/content/olympic-security-firm-g4s-apologizes-for-not-fulfilling-contract/1404709.html
