The top prosecutor in the trial of Hosni Mubarak has demanded the death penalty for the former Egyptian president and his two sons. Mustafa Suleiman made the demand during a court session Thursday in Cairo. Mubarak is charged with corruption and involvement in the deaths of hundreds of anti-government protesters during last year's uprising that forced him from power. The former leader has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He faces the death penalty if convicted of murder. The co-defendants include his two sons, Egypt's former interior minister and senior police officers. Suleiman is also seeking the death penalty for them. Earlier this week, the prosecution in Mubarak's trial called him a "tyrannical leader" who sought to hand power to friends and relatives. Mubarak's trial restarted last week after more than a three-month suspension, while the court considered a request to have the judges replaced.
