Officials in southwest Pakistan say gunmen have shot and killed seven Shi'ite Muslims in two incidents in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province. Authorities say gunmen on a motorcycle opened fired on a taxi, killing at least five Shi'ites. Later, gunmen killed two Shi'ites. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks. Pakistan has a Sunni Muslim majority, and although most Sunnis and Shi'ites coexist peacefully, extremists often target members of each community.
