October 10, 2011 Series of Blasts in Baghdad Kills at Least 10 VOA News A series of explosions in the Iraqi capital has left at least 10 people dead and 19 others wounded. The blasts occurred Monday evening in western Baghdad, just minutes apart from one another. Officials say the first blast came from a roadside bomb, followed by a second bomb that detonated when emergency services arrived at the scene. A third bomb exploded nearby during that time, also in the same area. Violence in Iraq has fallen sharply since the height of sectarian fighting in 2006 and 2007, but bombings and shootings still occur with regularity. .
